Sweet Southern Living DIY Projects Fall Decorating on a Budget

Fall Decorating on a Budget

I love decorating my home for Fall! I don’t however like to spend a lot of money to do it (insert Dave Ramsey quote here) ๐Ÿ™‚ Seriously though, changing up your decor with every season can cost a fortune! But it doesn’t have to ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have always been very frugal and because I like to stick to a budget, I have become quite creative when it comes to decorating. Here are a few things I’m using this season:

One of my favorite things to use as Fall decor is my “Christmas Tree.”ย  With just a few simple items from the dollar tree I have a gorgeous, rather large, Fall decoration! It was already in the attic so the only cost was a couple of packs of leaves from the Dollar Tree! I also used a few pumpkin picks and flowers from last year. AND bonus – the tree is now set up to decorate for Christmas so that’s one less thing to do post Thanksgiving weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

Believe it or not, these pumpkins are pretty old and the color was peeling off. But with a little sanding and paint, I now have “new” pumpkins that cost: $0. See the white one? I painted it using some old ceiling paint that I had in the garage.ย  The other one I repainted orange but added some hints of gold. I love the way they turned out!

Speaking of “pumpkins” how do you like these zero cost ones? They are made from scraps of material and toilet paper rolls ๐Ÿ™‚ lol yep, I did that! I also added cinnamon sticks as “stalks” and they smell so good! So easy, so cute and FREE!!

I found these Canvas “Grow Bags” atย Tractor Supply. They were on clearance for only $1.99!! I <3 them! I bought a few and have all of them in my decor right now!

Well, that’s all for now ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for stopping by! I’d love to hear what you think of my low/no cost decor ๐Ÿ™‚ Also what kind of diy’s you use in your decor ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Hey there would you mind letting me know which webhost you’re working with? I’ve loaded your blog in 3 different web browsers and I must say this blog loads a lot faster then most. Can you suggest a good hosting provider at a fair price? Many thanks, I appreciate it!

  3. Fall is my favorite season! I absolutely love your Dollar Tree finds for this beautiful tree and I’m hoping I could find one of those grow bags from Tractor Supply. I go there at least once a month to get pellets for my bunny but I never take time to browse around. Now I really have to!!

    1. Thank you! Fall is my favorite too ๐Ÿ™‚ and I LOVE Tractor Supply! Mostly for their decor lol. Good luck finding the grow bags…..I ended up going back for 3 more and I’m using them as storage baskets in one of my cube organizers ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Wow! I love how you were able to use the leaves from the dollar store to add some flair for your fall decorating AND I’m definitely going to try out the toilet paper idea for pumpkin decorating. Very great ideas that I’m going to have to try out!

  5. Fall will be here in the blink of an eye. I love your creative ways to repurpose items from around the house to turn them into something unique!

  6. I’m the same way! Some call it cheap, but I call it being “frugal and financially aware”! I love love love Dollar Tree and I have these same fall leaves in my storage cabinet at work. I don’t have an office but instead an open cubicle with a waist high wall. Each season, I decorate the wall with either fall leaves, christmas decor, easter eggs, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, et… All from the Dollar Tree. I also add clear lights to give it a “Pop”!

    1. Oh I love that you decorate your work area! I always do that too ๐Ÿ™‚ It always puts me in a better mood I think. And the Dollar Tree – IS MY GO TO for sure! We work too hard for that money to waste it ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for your comment! I’m heading over to check out your blog now <3

  7. Great ideas. I love the one using the Christmas tree. I also have a multi-colored pumpkin that I am definitely going to paint. Thank you for the ideas.
